Junyun Lai

Dr Junyun Lai obtained her PhD (2016) from the National University of Singapore and is currently a Cancer Research Institute Fellow working in the Darcy and Beavis laboratories at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Junyun’s research focuses on enhancing cancer immunotherapies including chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy for solid cancers and has published her work as lead author in top-tier journals including Nature Immunology, Nature Reviews Immunology and Blood. Her work has been recognised by competitive funding including the International Cancer Research Institute Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship, NHMRC Ideas Grant, Peter Mac RECD and Foundation Grants, and numerous awards such as the Lea Medal, Joseph Sambrook Prize for Research Excellence and ASI Jared Purton Award. Her research has been featured by outlets including Nature Immunology News & Views, ABC Breakfast, ACIR.org, and has led to both industry and clinical collaborations with Gilead Sciences and the Peter Mac Centre of Excellence in Cellular Immunotherapy.
